The Deptherapy charitable status is defined as:
“The relief of individuals, especially wounded, current and ex-members of the UK Armed Services, their dependents and, when funds and resources permit, similar persons from the ‘blue light’ services and their dependents, and eventually those from the general population, with a life-changing physical and/or mental condition or the like, by providing opportunities for rehabilitation, motivation and life-enrichment through specially tailored professionally delivered scuba diving”
Our first objective is to support and help ex-members of the UK armed services. Our second objective is to help those in the emergency services and finally our third objective is to expand our programme to include the general public. Deptherapy is not limited to those with physical injuries but we also want to help those with operational fatigue no matter who you are or what you do.
Whilst the medical science is in its infancy there is anecdotal evidence to suggest that scuba diving can support those who have these recognised conditions. The Deptherapy and Deptherapy Education Charity is additional dive community based service, that hopefully adds a positive purpose to those who are wanting help.
Dean and Chris have asked me how much the charity needs:
For four new injured guys to do their full OW Course, doing (as they need) warm water diving, with Confined dives and manuals etc provided free over here – based on diving in Egypt with accommodation and diving provided free for the injured troops, with 1:2:1 instruction/supervision as per our rules around £8,000 per trip. If we were paying for their accommodation and diving then costs increase.
Gallipoli trip, we are still evaluating the programme costs however we estimate each team would require circa £12k budget.
Two Week Mega Diving Challenge Expedition at least £25k+ and could be up to £60k, depends where we go and what we do.
With corporate branding across all our gear and with an accompanying film crew we can deliver a programme that address sustainability, community engagement and environmental recovery along with team development and global balance.
What id global balance, our programme for business engaged in the environment.
So the challenge is this, we have four guys lined up for OW Courses we just need someone to stump up £8k for a programme and a the need for a sponsor for the Gallipoli trip and the Expedition
